doesn't it?  Is it a debilitating disorder which will plague your child for a lifetime or is it something he/she will outgrow?  Research will show you both answers:

Yes; this is a disorder lasting a lifetime.  Behavioral management techniques, self-monitoring and even medication can help improve your child's behavior.

No; this is the result of educational "professionals" demanding developmentally inappropriate skills of today's youth.  They will "outgrow" this disorder due to the fact they were mislabeled.

This article explores this dilemma:  Is ADHD a Valid Diagnosis in Young Children

Whether your child has been mislabeled or not, the issue is he/she is not performing at either the teacher's or parent's expectations and something should be done to help.  There are numerous interventions for attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, some are legitimate and will help your child improve his/her behavior, others can be "questionable."  All should be viewed with caution if pursued.

I have done my best to separate the legit from the questionable...it is up to you to decide.
